CYC Sailors, The CYC Racing Committee is considering a proposal for a Match Racing Series for next year.  It will not replace any of our regular series racing or regattas. It will be scheduled around them. In fact, the first Round Robin should begin early in the year and the next should be at least a couple of weeks later. This will allow for the teams to train on the next boat type. So, If R/R one was in early March, then R/R Two should be in late March, then R/R Three would be in early April, and so on. Or we could try to stretch it out for the entire year if we wanted to avoid 3 months of steady sailing at CYC. Our only hindrance would be the doldrums of summer. Obviously, we would need to get at least two boats of each class loaned to us by private owners for this event. I would have no problem loaning my boat for such an event. We just need to work out the liability issues In the proposed scenario, we would be sailing in J22's for the first round, Lightning's for the second round and V15's for the third round. This is to ensure that no one team dominates due to familiarity of the boat class. The only issue with this is that when we get to the V15 rounds, each team will need to drop one crew. If each team is aware of this going in, then this should not be an issue. We will need to limit the participation this year to Skippers that are Full CYC Members and crew that are at least on the waiting list for membership. We may also be charging a small entry fee to cover any extra insurance that we may need to purchase. This will take some additional homework and setup.
