Brian Zimmerman & John Milligan Win "Spar Wars" by Taking 6 out of 7 Battles.
South Carolina Yacht Club played host to the 2003 Spar Wars regatta on August 16-17. The Race Committee at this incredible facility was able to knock off 7 races in 2 days. The standard Sea Breeze filled in just in time on Saturday to provide some very good racing for the afternoon. Sunday was much lighter and with a stiff left to right current, tactics were the name of the game.
Brian and John were able to take bullets in all seven races. However, they were OCS in the third race and had to take a DSQ. Stanley Hassinger has another great showing in this event.
The next V15 event will be at CYC for the beginning of the Fall Series and the Southern Swing...

Welcome to the home of Vanguard 15 Fleet 66. We are based out of Catawba Yacht Club, on Lake Wylie. Our facility is very convenient as it is only fifteen minutes from downtown Charlotte.
Over the past three years, our fleet has grown from a single boat to six boats. And, we are still growing. There are a number of sailors that have moved into the Charlotte Region that are beginning to show their faces around the club.
Our fleet has become very active in the past year. We have started traveling to other dinghy events in the and around the Carolinas. This fall, we have implemented a traveling circuit to help promote the Vanguard 15. The "Southern Swing" will take us as far north as Lake Norman and as far south as New Orleans, LA. Gulfstream Marine has donated the use of a Trailer/Van setup that can transport up to five boats and gear.
